I'm not asking this to be confrontational, either.

Seriously, if you really believe that this is a sin, then how are those involved hurting society. And please don't say that they are causing harm because they can't have children. For one thing, some of them can (i.e. lesbians). Secondly, if you say that, then you would have to say the same thing about heteros who choose not to have kids, who CAN'T have kids, and others who, for whatever reason, never get married and therefore never have children.

As long as the answers are logical and respectful, I look forward to hearing them from all sides of this.

Peace out.

the bigger question is ...
who hurts homosexuals ?

why does anyone feel that they can be hurtful to others simply because they dont understand them

Mutually enjoyable activities between consenting adults in the privacy of their own home are no one Else's business. Homosexual activity under those conditions harms no one. As a Pagan I do not even have a Religious objection to it. If you are addressing the question of why, if it harms no-one, is it opposed, that is a separate issue. This country was largely founded by Western Europeans and Western European law and culture were shaped by the Roman Catholic church, which banned non-procreative sex of any kind. People tend to assume the mores they were raised with to be universal, and react negatively to anything outside their perceived norm. Since the power and wealth of the Churches are dependent on the size of their congregations anything that calls their teachings into question is a threat to their future. They oppose homosexuality for the same reason they oppose evolution, they made a statement, and if that statement can be wrong then how can they claim none of their other statements are wrong? Once the congregants start questioning the clergy, the clerical power base crumbles. Worst case scenario, at least from their viewpoint, they might have to get real jobs.

they do not hurt anyone,

they do not go against any natural order (over 1500 species of animals exhibit homosexual traits and intercourse)

the only people that have a probelm with them are the same people that have a problem with everyone that refuses to bow down and think just like they want them to.

They are hurting themselves, and all those who they come in contact with by the influence of being a homosexual. Homosexuals do not deserve the privilege of being parents. It's not God's way, and it should not be our way either. I appreciate the right of free speech.

It isn't so much that I think they are hurting society, they are only hurting themselves in the long run. I just do not like to have other peoples sexuality shoved in my face and be told I have to like it. I feel that way about homosexual relations and heterosexual relations. You can do what you like in your own house but you do not have to subject everyone to it simply to validate your right to do it.

I find Jayelle's answer heartbreaking...
"I know I am on my way to hell"
I want to weep.
I want to take her into my arms, and explain to her that I, also, am a sinner...a sinner who has been saved by grace...and she can also be saved.
I want her to understand that God loves her, and wants her to repent and turn from her sins....
I do not want her or her "wife" or her friends to suffer.

How can you possibly think that a person who could type "I know I am on my way to hell" is NOT hurting?

I know that *if* I'm on my way to hell, that's God's call and not anyone on Earth's. I'd certainly appreciate it if they stopped trying to create hell on earth for me, my wife, and my friends, too. We're not hurting each other. Homophobes are doing their level best, through law and violence and propaganda directed at our families and co-workers, to hurt us.

Children and teens are hurt because it confuses them, and causes many to experiment. Then they can contract diseases which can destroy their lives.

In my opinion, they're not hurting anyone. I'm sure they just want to live their lives and not be harassed.

They're hurting themselves. They are sinning against God. God still loves them, he just hates their sin. They are eliminating their chances of going to heaven.
