My husband and I are building a passive solar house. We recycle, buy local products, and donate to good causes. I volunteer with a local homeless shelter once a week. I always feel like I am somehow bragging or portraying myself in a somehow yucky way when people ask these questions and I answer. I would add I don't think doing these things makes me somehow morally superior or self-satisfied. I do them for the selfish reason that if I want to live in a decent world and leave one to my kids I have to be willing to do something to make it better or at least not trash it more.

The lack of action can also be a sin. However, the earth is not my mother. What have I done to make the world a better place? Aside from recycling and those types of actions? I have taught my children to be kind, giving, loving, compassionate. I have loved my family and friends and been there for them when they need me. Mostly, I have given my heart to Christ Jesus and try to follow His example daily.

"Evil flourishes when good men do nothing" I stopped eating innocent animals who deserve their life to live. I chant The Maha Mantra (great mantra for deliverance) which purifies one self and the whole world. To change the world go to http://www.stephen-knapp.com/chanting_hare_krishna.htm for details on the Mantra and the World Relief Network.

If there are indeed good people, it is impossible they won't do anything. But isn't the bible itself, if I remember it correctly, Jesus himself said "no one is good except the father"?

Mother earth can be a better place if we , their children(spirit and dust), can ask our father in heaven to teach us how to live harmoniously in one big family.

Yes, that is evil, we all have a moral responsibility to help out our fellow humans who are in need.

I think it is more that when good people do nothing, they are no longer good! One is good not merely because he does no evil, but because he is actively working for what is good.

when people do not do anything then the ones that want to take control and use terror will win.

I really try to live every second of my life to protect life, environment, Universal love and understanding, as I hope we would all try to do. We don't always get it perfect but we try.
