So my IPC teacher wants us to do a project that might involve physics, behavioral science, engineering, etc. but me and my friend want to do a project that can fit into one of those categories and still involve music since we're both music freaks. He's looked up information about sound waves but I think we can do better than that. Does anyone have any ideas for a project? We don't want it to be too easy, 9th grade level at least. We've considered working on what makes an electric guitar work, but we need a little bit of guidance...can anyone help?

Don't give up too easily on the sound wave thing. Graphic equalization. Sound is measured in hertz (Hz) & Kilo Hertz (KHz), Kilo being the metric measure for 100. Start with the low tones - long wavelengths, low number of hertz. Move up the tone scale. As the tones get higher pitched the smaller the wave lengths - increased number of hertz. Super highs, like cymbals are in the kilohertz range and so on. It's an everyday thing that everyone can relate to . When you hear a siren go by the tone is lower as it approches and higher, faster, as it passes you and back to lower tones as the object receeds. Good luck.

Effects of music on animals, people or plants. Also do different types of music yield different results on humans animals or plants. Have fun. My science fair project is on gene configuration in corn. have fun with it. Word of advice: DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. You'll get a C at best. I procrastinate every year.

Maybe you could get rats or a gerbil or something, and everyday at certain times you could play music to them(get 2:one for like rock and the other like soft peaceful stuff or classical music...)see if they changed there eating habits, bathroom habits, and sleeping periods of time. How have they changed? What do they do?What changed between them?
