Cats have personalities just like any other animal. Maybe something happened to that cat to make him feel that way. Maybe he is feeling inferior or neglected.

I think you should take him to a cat psychologist to see what is really bothering him or her.

I don't try to understand why cats are the way they are. They just are. It will drive you mad to try and figure it out. My Mom has two cats similar to yours and it is the younger one who is playful, he has kind of become the self appointed alpha male.

Different personalities!
I have 2 persians(sp?) one is more lovable than the other.
I 2 bingles- one is lovely, one is a unowot! haha just like different ppl, animals have different personalities too.

The same reason why my sister is so outgoing and i am so shy. Just their personality, and also due to their experiences when they were kittens.
