I don't like to ask for help but it is for my children. I know the feeling of waking up christmas morning and not having anything under the tree and I don't want my children to have to ever experience that feeling. Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

Don't feel bad I'm in the same boat...We are on a very limited income too...but there are places you can check out...The local food pantry should have a program called 'toys for tots', that you can sign up for & they might even have a thing where another family adopts another family for Christmas...We are signed up for both plus my daughters school is also doing a adopt a family for the holidays, that her teacher signed us up for that....There are places out there you just have to look for them but I would start with the local food pantry.....not knowing where your from but another good reason to check with the food pantry is they also give out food boxes too for both Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners, the one we go to we are signed up for both and we get them the Tuesday before the holiday...Most of the time they give you enough food to feed a family of 8....so please go and check out your local food pantry.....good luck and enjoy the holidays :)

I dont know their ages or sex, but at Wal Mart they have the aisle that has dollar or less toys that my kids seem to love. They seem to flock to those instead of the more expensive toys. Also going to the dollar store. Buying them crayons and coloring books, or puzzles is fun and will keep them busy. If you have any boys, get them each a 5 dollar action figure from Wal Mart. They have the spiderman, batman, etc... Im just thinking about how my kids are. They go for the cheaper things, which is fine with me. I asked my 3 year old what he wanted for his birthday in a couple of weeks and he said A Box!..lol,I told him ok, that is easy enough..I think anything makes children happy.

There are places like Churches and such that run toy programs to help you. Call your local help line or city welfare they will direct you to the right place.

I have 3 children and I am also a single mother so I know your feelings. I decided this year they would each get 3 toys, and outfit, jacket, snow pants, and boots. Simple, they will be excited.

I need more details - ages of the children? are they asking for something specific or can the gift be something just age/sex appropriate? ... i can help because I too am on a very very limited income and I have a lot of people to buy for every year. I shop year round clearance, garage sales, thift stores, ebay, etc... but I also realize its getting down to the wire, so add more details, and we'll be able to help more.

Contact your local Toys for Tots charity. It is run by the Marines. I have been collecting toys for 14 years at my office. It's a wonderful charity to help children during the holidays. They only accept new toys for children all the way into their teen years.

I duno if its national but in MO radio stations around this time have 'fund raisers' where people buy gifts and donate them to a charity who helps familys with kids on christmas. Here we have 'toys for tots' and every year its amazing to see how many people get into the spirit of giving. my dad for the last few years has donated bikes, dolls, the leap frog deals and many other family members too. i suggest calling a local radio station and see if they have any information for you. hope this helped. good luck

call their school, call local churches, salvation army, toys for tots, toys for teens, there are SO MANY places that help families even if the school dose not help they will be able to direct you. Sometimes even local health departments have help. Don't totally depend on these places you should do your very best to buy at least one thing 4 each child.

Church programs will help a lot.
You can ask and check if you can participate.
Sometimes there's things like "adopting" a family for Christmas and they will get presents for the kids and for you and other helpful things as well.

When I had my daughter and was a single mom for a short time, we were able to qualify for donations from the county we lived in. They had gotten toys and clothes from donations in the town and delivered them to us. It was really nice.
Contact your local chapter of the Salvation Army and see if they can help.
Perhaps you could also find like-new toys at a thrift store.

Can you sew? I made my daughter some dress-up clothes for almost no money. Also if you have very young kids they won't mind used toys from a thrift store. We do a lot of thrift store shopping and I find a lot of great stuff for almost nothing.
