Find one (or more) areas to be excited about. For me it is showing & training my dog. I tend to be shy but get me around doggie people or get me talking about my dog...or anyone's dog and I forget to be afraid & shy and I really open up.
It is hard to be shy when you are talking about something you really care about.

Hey there's nothing wrong with being a shy girl! trust me some people find that sexier than wild girls(cause i was very shy also). But if you want to change try not to be isolated, socialize more and be more fun and funny!!

hmmmm.....some ways to not be shy, huh? well, i am so totally the opposite of shy but i'll try ta help u anyway. well, whenever your around ppl frum school or an after school activity try to start conversation. second, when the time is right try to think of something funny to say. thrid, raise your hand as often as you can in class(im assuming your still in school) and when you speak dont speak quietly, talk in a loud confident voice to let ppl know ur not afraid of speaking to ur classmates. and if u get it wrong, no biggie. it happens ta me all the time, dont worry we all make mistakes. well, gtg. toodles, i hope i helped!
Luv, Isabel

What works for me... and other people... is that it is really hard to make someone smile if I don't say anything at all. They can't say "yes" to going out if one never asks. Be prepared to be turned down but never let that hold you back from asking. If they say no it is not the end of the world.

1. Put yourself in situations where you have to participate more
2. Hang out with people who are more outgoing than you are
3. Make goals for yourself to do things outside of your norm e.g. This week I´m going to _______
4. Don´t try to change overnight, it´s a slow process!

You have to set your mind that you don't want to be shy anymore and then you have to overcome the fear that you have whatever the fear may be.

Practice in the mirror talking to others.
Join groups at school, where you have to be social.
Tape yourself, and listen to yourself speak.
How do you like, how you sound (on recorder)???
