Triglycerides are a type of fat found in your blood. They are a major source of energy and the most common type of fat in your body.
Any extra calories are turned into triglycerides and stored in fat cells to be used later. The excess calories are stored as fat regardless of what kind of food you eat—fat, carbohydrate, or protein. If you regularly eat more calories than you burn, you may have high triglycerides.
Triglycerides have th the risk of heart disease and stroke
Cardiovascular exercise and low-moderate carbohydrate diets containing essential fatty acid are recommended for reducing triglyceride levels

Triglycerides are created in the liver. The liver is the central process plant of the body.
When you eat a lot of carbohydrates, they break down into glucose in the body. Glucose enters the liver where it is stored as glycogen.
The liver can only store a limited amount of glycogen. When it has all it can safely store, the excess glycogen is processed into triglycerides.
HMG Co-Enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase)is found in the liver
HMG Co-Enzyme reductase is the cholesterol making machinery of the body.
Insulin activates the activity of HMG-CoA.
High levels of Insulin signal HMG-CoA reductase to kick up the production of cholesterol.
The liver packages the trigylcerides with the cholestrol and sends it out into the blood stream as VLDL's or very low density lipoproteins. Most of these VLDL's become LDL or bad cholesterol.
This is why you want to control your carbohydrate intake - by doing so, you will also control your cholesterol and trigylcerides.

Triglycerides are formed when three fatty acid molecules are esterified with one molecule of glcerol. Triglycerides (TG) are the main way that the body stores energy. When we speak of fat, be it lard, tallow, or vegetable oil we are dealing with compounds that are, in the most part, TGs. Each is characterized by its component fatty acids.
