A news letter works nice. You send a letter with your families news to a family member. They add their news and pass it on to the next. When it has made it's way to the last person on the list, they pull your news letter out and mail what's left, unless your sending pictures or something you want returned, then you state that in your news letter. The more the merrier.

Some places like MSNgroups (everyone doesnt need hotmail either) allow you to create an online group.. you can have like pictures calender updates etc etc. My family keeps track of vacations holidays and whatnots.. Also creating a group for each family with a seperate calender on planned family events (for just that family)... like when they are going out of town or when their kids have school events they must go to. rather than having to call everyone in each family to plan a thanksgiving feasts time..or a cookout or something.. post it and let everyone respond then set a time...
Its Nice for large families. If everyone isnt computer capable sorry..but its a good excuse to getem to learn new things! especially grandparents and relatives you cant visit alot. post pictures and surely theyd want to go their just for those :)
and as for "news" the admin of the group can send out mass emails to all the group members on whatever...
Good luck!
