Act like you are sleeping. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Our trainer told us that as the dominant pack member, we are to decide when it is time to play and when it's time to be done. As the dominant in the home, your dog needs to learn to respect this.

So when your done, pick a key word, like enough, to say and then be done playing. When your dog attempts to lure you in again, say enough. It should also be you that initiates play time, again with a key word or phrase, like "let's play".

If your dog is still wanting to play, and your arm has had enuf, maybe consider working on some basic obedience training at this time. It will be physically easy on you, and still give your dog a focus and you'll be teaching your dog too!

you are able to practice maximum dogs fetch and older dogs can learn new tricks. you will possibly could practice the interest fetch in separate areas. Like first, paintings on coaching him to pass after the stick or ball and compliment him fantastically for it with affection, play or treats. Then paintings on "come" whilst he has the object in his mouth, returned with a great form of compliment, treats and so on. and then "drop" it until you have him doing all 3. a great form of dogs in simple terms learn fetch on there own although yet i think of it particularly is executed with yours. We taught our 5 12 months old Beagle to "communicate", "shake paw", "roll over" and ask to be enable exterior to pee as quickly as we accompanied her, so what they say approximately no longer being waiting to coach an old dogs new tricks is bogus. Shepherds are fantastically intelligent dogs so he can %. it up in case you put in the paintings.

I have a Jack Ruessell Terrier so I know exactly how you feel. The only thing I can do is just walk away. She gets the point if I ignore her for about 10 minutes even if she is standing there with the ball in her mouth.

I take the ball out of his sight and turn my palms up and tell him "That's All" it works for barking and eating and works pretty darn good for me. Good luck I have a Schnauzer and his main objective in life is play ball

take his/her mind off of fetch by introducing something else, this may still involve interaction with you for a few minutes but... I always recommend taking them on a walk to solve many problems. He'll get tired and then want to relax for a while.

We have taught our dog "key words" that mean things like when I say "num-a-num" that means food or a treat and "go bye bye" means we are going somewhere in the truck and he goes straight to the truck and waits for us to open the door. When I want him to stop doing something I say "no more, that's all" and he goes back to his resting place.
He's funny because he loves to chew on ice and I'll go to the freezer and say "are you ready?!" and he hunches down and waits for me to throw him a piece of ice. I don't even have to have the freezer door open.........he's ready!
It wont take long for your dog to catch on.

Ya right,,,,, good luck with that one.
It should be noted tho' that if you are trying to train a retriever,,,, ALWAYS put the dog up while it is still wanting more ALWAYS.

maybe just try putting the toy down and doing something else with your dog, like taking a walk or feeding it
