I believe in god, or some other powerful being. I also believe in evolution. I'm also a fan of carma, reincarnation/ past lives , sprits/ souls, and a after life. I not the biggest fan of the catholic church ( no offence to any catholics). Does this description fit any religion? (tell me if a need to add more)

I would say similar things of my beliefs that you have said, but I have never really felt that I needed to belong to a religion. These are your beliefs - great. Why label it? Why not be free to decipher the mysteries of life for yourself without having a leader to tell you what you should do or what not?

This is so often my question. We are supposed to be good people - no problem. We are supposed to emulate a spiritually high rated ancestor, as it were - ok, I can see how that might help the quest. We are supposed to allow a group of "religious leaders" to tell us how we should vote and live and give? I don't think so.

Religion can be helpful for some people - don't get me wrong - but you have already come so far as to develop the tenets of your own personal religious philosophy or statement - why now look for a group? You can live the ordinary life in a non-ordinary way and learn and see things on the road less travelled that others don't often see. I think we should all just call ourselves Religiously Unaffiliated.

Peace!

PS - If you really want a church or a group, you might try the Universal Life Church (http://www.ulc.net/) or Unitarian Universalists. Faith.com has a ton of info - I am sure you could find something of interest there.

The next day:
Dude, you gotta check this out: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

It's the Belief-o-matic - a quiz that will tell you how your answers compare to the world relgions. It was fun and interesting.

I don't know whether your beliefs fit any specific religion, but it sounds like paganism may be a way forward. It's not so much a religion in and of itself, rather an umbrella term which covers a wide range of beliefs; some follow specific paths as Wiccans, Druids or Asatru; others, like myself, don't find they fit into any particular camp, but the general tenets associated with paganism (primarily "if it harms none, do what you will") still apply.
If you're interested in investigating paganism, I'd recommend checking out a pagan messageboard, www.mysticwicks.com. It's a friendly sort of board, and it's a good place to ask questions and find out if it's for you.

And by all means, have a look at www.lds.org. Mormons are funny... :D

Are you looking for help to find the religion that truly pleases God?
(I understand some people believe that God used Evolution to Create.) Or, are you looking for a religion that fits your current interests -- whether they please God or not? As you go to answer this question, I strongly suggest you first read the following:

"Science and religion [are] no longer seen as incompatible."— The Daily Telegraph, London, May 26, 1999.

So far, you could be a Buddhist, except for the God part, unless you think that God is, as transcendentalists believe, that god is a part of all living things, which might be considered buddhist-like.

I'm Muslim, but Muslims don't believe in past lives, so you couldn't be Muslim.

I don't know enough about any other religions to say yes or no.

In American Literature we're talking about transcendentalism, which isn't a religion, but has the types of beliefs that are usually associated with religions.

Now, I don't trust Wikipedia, but for more transcendentalism, go to:

Good luck, peace.

Buddhism is compatible with your beliefs, as I think are some other eastern philosophies/religions. I'm most familar with Buddhism. They are noncommital on God, the main idea of Buddha was the question of God was unknowable. Certain sects though embrace the God and spirits idea more than others.

Paganism and Wicca seem compatible too.

Well you kinda sound iffy about all of it. After all you didn't say you believed in past lives, karma, etc., you just said your a fan of it. If your not decided you could be agnostic. Which means you don't believe or disbelieve in anything. You can favor different beliefs but leave your possibilities open.

I can tell you what "false" and "True" religion really is, and there is a True Religion and operating on the Earth today.

What is false religion?

Why does religion seem to be at the root of so many problems?
The fault lies, not with all religion, but with “false” religion.

False Religion...MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?

False Religion...SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul of spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning, it itself will die.” Ezekiel 18:4 Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected, an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?

False Religion...TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: Church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men.” 1 Cor. 6:9,10 Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?

How to identify true religion.

True Religion...PRACTICES LOVE: True worshippers are “no part of the world,” are not divided by race or culture, and display “love among themselves.” Rather than killing one another, they are willing to die for one another.

True Religion...TRUSTS GOD'S WORD: Instead of teaching “tradition” and “commands of men as doctrines,” true religion bases its doctrine on God's Word, the Bible

True Religion...STRENGTHENS FAMILIES AND UPHOLDS HIGH MORAL STANDARDS: True religion trains husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies,” helps wives to develop “deep respect for their husbands,” and teaches children to “be obedient to their parents.”

True Religion is available, search for it.

FYI, there's more than just the Roman Catholic church out there. I belong to one of th Byzantium ones, and there are Coptic Catholics, all kinds, not just RC. But RC is like the flagship.
