im choir, and we just put on this big musical , "The King and I", and we had to "bow" to buddah, and our director is very religious, anyways, the monday after the performance, she is in tears because we had gotten terrible reviews and she wishes she wouldnt have done that to us, well, we all really dont care about it cause we were just acting and thats all, not praising another statue of religion, i need all of your opinions on that. thanx

Acting is acting. Your teacher/director is engaging in magical thinking and demeaning Christianity if she thinks the bad reviews came because of bowing to Buddha. You guys aren't the center of the universe. The show wouldn't have survived 60 years, with thousands of performances and a full length movie, each bowing to Buddha, if that were the cause.

The real cause was that the reviewers didn't like the show. Too bad. I hope you had fun.

It was all in the script and you were all actors in a play for goodness sake. People need to wake up and realize there are many different religions in the world, and you all were just playing a part. I'll bet you all had a great time, and that's what really counts. I do know about this stuff. I was in the chorus of all the musicals we did in high school (many moons ago). It was always so much fun. One year we all wanted to do the play "Godspell"-it was a popular play in the 70s. We had taken a trip to Chicago and saw it there, and it was great. Mind you, not all of us kids were of the same religion, and still, it didn't bother us, we wanted to do the play. Well, guess what? The adults (parents) didn't want any part of it, just because it had a Christian theme. We had to choose a different musical. Anyway, chin up, and tell your director not to let the opinions of some ruin a special night. You all had a great time I'm sure!

So she thinks you got bad reviews because you bowed to Buddha in a play? I think this lady needs a serious reality check. Maybe she should have you do The Sound of Music instead.

Your teacher has a screw loose! "The King & I" is set in Siam, the characters in it could hardly have bowed to Jesus, now, could they? If it got terrible reviews it was because the reviewer was in a bad mood, or because the performance was terrible!

Not really, it is just acting. I'm in a drama team at my church and we act out things like doing drugs, and drinking, but that doesn't mean we actually do it. It's just showing other people what goes on in the world, but then we get to tell them about Jesus. So, I would say that it's not wrong if you were just acting.

Christians probally gave you bad reviews because bowing to Buddah...
See how religion can cloud the judgement of ignorant people even more?
Religion is a poison, enough said.

I think she's more upset over the bad reviews and not so much the act. It's hard to take critism over something so trivial and silly when it meant nothing, on a religious level, to the students. Poor lady!

Do not worry, Buddha cannot be worshipped, when he died he ceased to exist by severing himself from the samsara. The bow is merely a sign of respect, not of worship.

Daioka 14 is just saying that out of pure disdain for christians...and how many Christians could have seen that play? It all depends on You and since it meant nothing to you, then it's nothing.
