Vodka. Try and allow a few dribble from your mouth onto the sore.As you swig from the bottle. Two matters will occur. There shall be a cooling outcome from the liquid and the alchohol will dehydrate the sore consequently decreasing the scale and the redness. There must even be a high-quality part outcome. This must take the style of a way of total wellbeing, and also you must additionally quit demanding approximately the bloodless sore. Try and do that on a friday and by means of monday all must be good. By the best way,I'm now not a truly healthcare professional.Just passing on individual enjoy. But well success. I realize .

if you get them often (which i do), i would recommend seeing a dermatologist and asking them for a prescription of valtrex, which is normally used to treat herpes (yes, cold sores are a small outbreak of herpes type two (not the bad kind)). if you take those pills at the first tingle, they can stop the cold sores altogether or greatly reduce the time it takes to heal them.
if you dont want to take pills, i would recommend zovirax (an OTC ointment) or abreva (abreva is better)
the best ointment that i have ever used for cold sores though is desenex, which is also doctor prescribed.
as for home remedies, if you take lyseine vitamins or eat yogurt, it should help them. its also best to avoid chocolate and milk for the time that you have cold sores because they make them much worse.
hope this helps!!

Try L-lysine. It's an amino acid and works really great. You can take it internally if you're prone to them, too. Go to a health food store or well stocked drug store. They sell a balm type thing that you can use on it, and buy the capsules if you get them alot. Also, when you first feel the tingle( the sign you're getting one) put an ice cube on it. It really slows down the virus. Good Luck!

as soon as you feel it tingle, put ice on it for about 10 minutes. Do this every couple of hours. It takes the fever/heat out of the sore & will inhibit the bacteria that causes it to form. Also, if you can't ice it before it breaks, Abreva is wonderful.

I mix a few drops of Clorox with a small spoonfull of water in a cup. Then I dab it on with a q-tip. This really soothes the itching! It also makes the sore heal way faster. Be carefull not to drip it on your clothes:)

One thing you can try when you first begin to notice it, before it gets ugly--try holding an ice cube against the area for awhile and repeat several times a day. It seems to make it not-as-bad.
