get the 3.31 if you live in town. get the 3.55 if you live in the country. the 3.31 will give you better mileage in the city, same on the highway. the 3.55 will give you worse mileage in the city and the same on the highway. from a monetary perspective, you will gain from the 3.31 in the city and the 3.55 will give you the pep for a spirited country drive.

I own a Classic Chevrolet full-size pickup I had painted back the original color which is Platinum metallic Gray which is also dark. The truck came from the GM factory with light Gray pin stripes that brilliantly accented the truck’s color. When I had the truck fully restored back in 2004, I did not put the vinyl pin stripes back on it, because I knew that over time the vinyl will fade and crack ruining the look of the truck. I plan to have the stripes painted on in the original color that they were. So in my opinion, go with same basic color of the car (which is Gray) just a lighter shade. A light Gray pin stripe on a dark metallic Gray paint finish is the way to go. Why? Because the lighter Gray will complement the darker Gray but at the same time give an excellent contrast. The smallest changes make the biggest difference. DON’T go with a “loud” color like White, Blue, Gold, Silver or any other bright color. As for the price, a good reputable paint shop might charge you anywhere from $500 to $2,000, depending on the quality and precision.

order it with 3.73 if you can. 3.55 if not, gas mileage is not dependant on rpm solely, gas mileage is decided by drag on the car, weight and a number of other factors. If you run the 3.73 gear and are running 2300 rpm and barely having to apply throttle, is alot better than running a 3.31 and having to use more throttle because of the reduced gearing, may be running lower rpm but using more throttle to maintain speed. The old 2.73 Ford use to use was awful in the fox body cars. From ownership of a mustang gt, I started out with factory 3.08, changed to 3.27 performance and mileage both increased. tried 3.55, even better, ended up with 3.73, great performance and got 30+ mileage on the highway. Both actually increased again.

The one Ford puts in it, they know more about it than you do OK, also note certified has note been around 36 years, your first answer, it used to be IGO not ase and that certification means nothing, Dealers Know nothing about Gear Ratios They just know how to take your money they will sell you anything this is why they are selling them not making them ,you will never get a real answer, and ford will put the correct one in cause its a GT and they don't want you coming back for this OK, its a true performer leave that to ford many other things to be concerned about like paint chips and if they test drove it before you get it and over rev it doing burnouts in the back lot make sure the car is Cristine no paint blemishes , if its a new Shelby GT 500 that has 500 hp and ford would not put something in that would not perform to its standards, you will never notice and difference anyway, 500 H.P. can & will get you killed so watch you gas pedeel foot, good luck and dont be comcerned about the rear end

Really depends on your driving habits. The 3.55 will give you more torque for a quick takeoff, with the loss of some top-end speed. The 3.31 will give you better fuel economy if you travel highway frequently. I'd go with the 3.31 personally.

You will hardly notice a difference between a 3.31 and a 3.55 rear axle ratio. 3.55 will be a little quicker, 3.31 will drop your highway rpm's slightly. Why does Ford even offer two ratios so close? It's pointless!!!

If you just ordered it, then its too late to select the rear-end. If you are ABOUT to order one, then decide what you are going to do with it.

If you and the Mrs. are gonna go crusing with the top down, pick the 3.31 for the gas mileage.

If you're gonna try to lay rubber on the blacktop, pick the 3.55.

People please...if he ordered a GT then its about power. V-6 have NO resell value at all. Go with the 3.55's the car has overdrive and obviously gas isnt a concern seeing that you opted for the v-8(excellent choice btw). Personally i'd throw in 3.73's, underdrive pulleys, and a cold air intake...but its your $$$ not mine.

3:55, it's not that steep, i run them, they are just right, c'mon, you ordered a high performance car, and you are going to put in a 3.31 DEAD rear ? Use your head, get the 3:55's ! they even work better with a stick shift !

3.55 higher ratio means quicker launches

I say this one because I would assume that you want to drag with it.

If you are into highway racing then go with the 3.31
