no, if you have a reason for it. My brother had to wear a 30 pound backpack for 3 weeks wen he was on a backpacking trip. he didnt consider that torture. Niether do i.

Try a locker or leave the stuff you don't need at home. And yes that is considered self-torture. That can cause back problems.

ok lets break this down,30lbs on back five days a wk. How many hrs in a day and how old are you. Say you are 16 and carry it on your back about 3hrs a day. I would say no. that is good excersize. Keep up the good work.

no....unless you have a locker at your disposal and aren't using it. but if you don't have a locker than it's the schools fault for not providing you with a class set of books and a home set of books.
