Because you child is in the military and it's part of his job. i am so tired of you whiny *** parents. Why don't you try SUPPORTING your child than bitching about his/her career choice. I am a Air Force wife and my husband deploys to a war zone regularly. I don't complain, I don't whine. i support him, i love him and I will always be there for him. He wants to be there for his country. Your child knew what they were getting into when they sign on the line. Stop whining about it and get a life!
We have a small son who knows what daddy does and is proud of his father. My husband parents are also proud of my husband and his career choice. Why can't you be proud of yours?

This isn't the same as saving Pvt.Ryan. There are no special privileges in spite of what some people think! There are lots of only children in war zones and there are no exceptions made for them to carry on the family name.
Draw comfort in knowing that a lot fewer navy personnel suffer the rigors of battle than do army and Marines. Good luck!

Because he volunteered for Naval service.
Being in the Armed Forces would be the cushiest job in the world if it weren't for all the "military stuff".
But unfortunatly the world is full of evil, and to combat that we need brave volunteers who are willing to serve, knowing the risks involved, because they understand that freedom is not free.

Because he is a proud American who wanted to serve his nation.
Our life is always in mortal danger, driving to work, walking down the street or anywhere.
You should be proud that he decided to serve his nation. Of course we always worry about our child when they are not with us.

Be proud of your"child". Besides, how many Navy people are getting killed ? His odds of never being in real danger are very slim.

He signed up for the service?
I was a draftee and I honestly believe we should all be subject to a draft. We could then easily have a million troops in Iraq and there'd be very little trouble by now.
Modern day Marshall plan!

my only son was activated in the beginning of the wars. they have some options for going into a war zone. it may be he opted for this option to go to the war zone. my son had a choice.
all i can say is that you are not alone. i also run an online support group for mil family on msn.
i was alone when the wars started. now i am one of many moms with only son or only child going to war.
they often feel the need to stand up and do something to be a man so to speak.
have you asked him about this. have you gone or read up on family readiness?
i had to go to the family readiness meeitng as his unit activated and he is gaurd. we had jag or mil lawyers there and others who told us the spiel who to ask questions to power of atty. you name.
please ask him why and ask to speak to his unit secretary or jag to find out more if you really want the truth.

Although the Navy is not the primary force in our current conflict areas. did you think sailors were exempt from seeing action?
