if it's a fully orthodoxx ceremony be prepared to be outside for the ceremony and walk into the reception site. women will be on one side of the hall and men on the other. upon entering there will be basins for the ritual wasshing prior to entering. you will neither sit nor dance with the men.

i recommend conservative atire a nd possibly a hat for the ceremony - you may wan to come out and ask them how conservative - put it to the person you know that invited you in the manner.... oh lydia, i want to make sure i don't embarass you or something where it's like you're doing her a favor - she's probably stressed enough.

if it's just kosher -- you'll be togther and in the synagogue or htel for the ceremony. again dress conservatively formal.

two hits -- women do NOT attempt to shake hands with an orthodox man and men do not attempt to shake hands with the women. yes the women will be wearing head coverings - shaytals/wigs.
depending on where they are from - some regions - do not pass anything at the table with your left hand. it's a discourtesy.

Anyone can attend any wedding although it is best if you are invited. As long as you respect the beliefs of the people getting married, it does not matter what your beliefs are. A Muslim can attend a Jewish wedding, a Christian wedding or a Sikh wedding if he wants to.

At these type sof weddings the men and women are in separate rooms during the ceremony. The women usually wear Hats and suits.
My cousin just had one of these weddings for his daughter . I did not attend but I saw the pictures and most of the women were wearing hats and suits.

Fancy, and something modest (covering down from collerbone, up from at least elbows, past the knee, not bright colors, not too tight, not pants).

You should wear a skirt or a dress (or a suit) which covers your knees (even when sitting). Your elbows should be covered, as well as your collarbone (that means nothing low-cut).

basically what a person would consider Sunday best.

a nice long dress and a blouse that covers up to your elbows and shows little cleavage.

something that's nice but modest as well.

a dress below the knees, and you can wear anything else that's not too revealing.
