I've never had a surface piercing, but I know many people who have, and I have researched the subject quite a bit.
I've only ever met one person with wrist piercings.
They were done on the tops of their wrists, and sadly, one had been torn out, and left a rather unsightly scar.
Being that it is on your wrist, this piercing has a very high risk of getting torn out, and basically just being "bumped around" a lot.
Getting dressed, for example, it may get caught on your shirt, etc.
As with all surface piercings, these may take months to heal, and many surface piercings may NEVER fully heal.
So, take all of this into consideration before deciding...
Talk to your piercer. He or she will know a great deal about it. (Or at least they should.)
Good luck! :)

Why on earth would you even consider it. Surface piercing can lead to so many infections ---including STAPH....I'm sorry but I recently have been a victim of BAD body piercings---and actually had to have surgery on my right ear a month ago---due to a tattoo shops BAD piercing in my right ear---
Now I'm left with not only a scared right ear but a keloid on the back side of my ear due to a person at a tattoo shop thinking they knew everything. Cartlidge piercings I know are done every day---but this same piercer did my left ear and now as a result of everything I have removed all my cartlidge piercings.
I would really suggest you reconsider surface piercings....and not do it!

well i havent had it done but i have done research and have a few piercings myslef (my next piercing im lookin into is the nape, back of the neck, i think it looks cute) lol but thats just me. everyne has thier own opinio of where they should have a piece of jewelry. but with all surface piercings there is a risk of the jewelry migrating(moving around into a different position than it was originally pierced). surface piercings also have a high risk of rejecting. (body pushing th jewelry out) i have never heard of gettign your wrist pierced though. you s hould go to a few piercings shos and see how much exxperience the piercers have and what they reccommend.

there is alot of information on this website you can browse through and look at.
but i htink you should go to a few shops to see what they recommend. but if you take care of it (sea salt soaks and pierce care solution) then you shouldnt have an infection. a major one at least. and if you do get it done you will still need to take care of it if you decide to take it out cause if you take it out and you dont clean it then the discharge will not be able to pass though causing a more severe infection.
but talk to a few shops and see hwta they reccommend
the thing you should be conserned the most is migration or rejection.

Surface piercings will in the end....reject and you will be left with a rather nasty scar. People have been piercing necks, throats, arms, backs and stomachs for years now and each one eventually will be pushed out of the skin because it is a foreign object.
If in the end you decide to do this you need to clean it all the time...I recommend sea salt. Mix warm water with sea salt and put a compress on the piearcing...this will allow any dirt/debree to flush itself out...See salt does not sting. DO NOT USE Bactine. That crap doesn't work! Be careful not to get it caught on something.

I don't know anyone who has but it shouldn't be any different than any other body piercing.

that's a really unique idea.
i love uncommon piercings.. it seems like everyone these days has their bellybutton/lip/nose pierced.. why not go for something that no one else has?
