Most physical labour does not require responsibility for the welfare of others. Most physical labour does not require critical thinking. Most physical labour type jobs do not require exceptional verbal skills for communication to get the task done. Most physical labour does not require knowledge of ethical issues in the work place. Most physical labour does not involve intricate problem solving skills. Most physical labour jobs do not depend on decisions that affect the bottom line (money) in the work place. With all these demands on white collar vs blue collar work, mental emphasized jobs pay more because more is at stake. Have a nice day and do your own homework. Just kidding.

It is this way because employers feel that physical labor is easier to replace so why pay them what they are worth. People who have to do a lot of mental work are hard to come by so they pay them better to keep them around. If employers realized that someone who is breaking their back to feed their families are just as important as a pencil pusher they would pay them better and treat them with respect.
Basically if you want a good paying job, get a good education and hope for the best. I have a college degree and can't even get a job as a walmart greeter thanks to the last job I had, severe injury at work left me with a disability.
My boyfriend is an OTR truck driver which is both physically and mentally demanding. He works out on the road for weeks on end to provide for us. So suzyfires I have to beg to differ with you. A lot of physical labor jobs are mentally demanding.

Its the other way around. Finding mentally trained experts is a lot more difficult than finding manual laborers. Those who are mentally trained want a salary to offset the $200,000 or so they spent on their eduction, so they want MORE.
Unless you're in certain parts of the US where manual labor actually pays about the same! Try finding some reliable house movers in the northeast.

It must be as man is due ot his soul mind and body in that order. Unfortaunately although we pay less for phyisical work but we all indulge in physical pleasures only so we as human beings are reduced to below animal level. There is only one war in the world and that is bewteen SAM (Sub-Animal Materialism) and Islam. The later comprehnends and encompases all facets of human life i.e. soul (Humanity) mind (Postive thinking) and body on one hand and self, family and soceity on the other.

'mentally work'? You answer your own question. Brains are in much shorter supply than muscles.
