I have been to Belize in 2001 and it was awesome! We had so much fun. Make sure to bring bug repellant for the tiny sand flies, sun screen for the hot sun and don't go snorkling in the clear waters for a long time, or you'll look like a fried lobster. Trust me, I did it and my ankles and back swool and I couldn't walk very far for a couple of days. I practically lived in the shower and my bed. The people are really nice, I found and the scenery beautiful. If I had a chance to go back again, I would in a heart beat! Oh ya and the food it awesome!
By the way, just out of curiosity, what area is your mission trip going to if it schedules to go?
Hope this helped you! If you have any more questions send me an e-mail at travalincanadiangirl@yahoo.ca

I guess it depends on where you are trying to go. If it's outside the Continental U.S. I do not know what limitations there may be. However, my husband and I went to Myrtle Beach for the July 4th and found a wonderful oceanfront room online through Priceline. I believe we were very lucky since it appeared there was only one available. Oceanfront rooms reserve quickly and there may be none online simply because there are none available. I would call the hotel directly and perhaps they have some that they have not released to the Internet sites. Each hotel has discretion to which rooms are available to the different Internet sites and franchise hotel databases. I was a front desk manager at a beach property and many times in the summer, I would block the franchise's access to my rooms available because there was a chance of overselling the hotel with the 800# operators, sister franchise properties, and my employees simultaneously reserving rooms. Be careful with the terminology hotels use. An oceanview room is typically a room with a partial view of the ocean, with better view from the balcony. An oceanfront room is one that directly faces the ocean. Good luck and enjoy your beach vacation!
