These "extremely rich people" that you speak of already contribute the vast bulk of charitable giving. But while a very small percentage of the population do hold a "disproportionate" slice of all the "wealth", it is simply not possible to solve poverty by 'redistributing' the wealth. Wealth is a relative measure only. There is more actual 'cash' in the worl today than ever before, yet the richest people living today are nowhere near as rich in terms of the relative value of their assets as the "Robber Barons" of a century or so ago were, or the Pharoahs, or the early Kings.
It is far more effective and sustainable to give poor people knowledge than money...

I was watching an auction where someone bid 17 million dollars on a portrait of Marilyn Monroe and 20 million on Mao Se Tung. I thought the same thing as your question.

You have to talk to them.
Do you know any extremely rich people?
Write a letter to Donald Trump or some other very rich person and try to convince him/her to share his/her wealth with the poor. Also, write a letter to the editor and say the same thing.
Good luck! You never know unless you try. You just might move a heart or two!

Hmmm... the redistribution of wealth.... sounds kinda like communism to me....
It would be nice if more of the wealthy would take their cue from the Gates' and support development in the poorer parts of the globe.
I personally, though, believe that the money would be better spent in training and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the developing world, rather than handouts. You know the saying: "you can teach a man to fish...."

I worked at Save The Children when they needed extra help and learned a lot of well offs do donate a lot of their earnings. And those of us who have no money volunteer.
Also this is worth repeating: "Do not worry about them , rather ask what you have done today out of your pocket for the poor."

There is a reason that most people with money have money... they EARN it!
Why in the world should people give their belongings away? Especially to people who either can't or won't work for their own things?

Ask Bill Gates - he is pouring millions/billions into his charity. His co-found (can't remember his name) put over 90 per cent of his money into charity. Some do. Others do not. Maybe Mr. Gates' example will help.

Actually they do. It's called a " Tax shelter " You see, when rich people give to charities, the Charities send Uncle Sam a receipt. That receipt is credited against their taxes.

Extremely rich people didn't get that way by being stupid. Why on earth would they want to give their money away??? Wouldn't that be stupid? I think so.
