It seems that XP's failed attempt to upgrade Win2K borked your old Win2K install. Find your old Windows 2000 CD. Upgrade to Windows XP Professional right after installing Windows 2000. Make sure your computer is plugged in and has a fully-charged battery.

well when you install xp it takes more than an hour. So I believe that you need to reinstall xp by putting the cd in the cdrom when you start the computer then the install should start automatically. Thats what happen to me too. But all i did was restart the computer and installed the xp again. But if you just download a copy off the internet then just go download it again somewhere else and burn that to insert it in your computer. Or if that dont work then insert the win2000 cd in and install that again to erase the xp.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

you need to go to a computer technician because in order to set it back i think you have to uninstall every thing on it and reinstall it in order to regain its position before.
