You may be stressing and it is just something that happens. I have it happen to me very rarely and it lasts mabe a week or two then goes away.
Unless you know something in your daily lifestyle has changed, such as different soap, laundry detergent or something you are eating, consider the stress issue.
Are you in a place where there is different air quality? Such as a new job? That could be another factor, or even a chemical you are exposed to?

it could be a number of different things, but since it's only on your face, I'll assume it's something you're putting on it. could be.....
cleanser
toner
moisturizer
age fighting product

any of these things could cause a reaction, especially if they contain fragrance or artificial color. it really could be any number of different things. I would get some highest strength benadryl creme and apply it to the my face and see if that helps.
and I would consider going to an allergist especially if you have problems with pollen, dogs, cats, dust, mold, trees, etc.
I have severe allergies myself, and sometimes the only way you can find out what's causing the problem is to be tested for various irritants.
also, don't put anything on your face except for the benadryl creme until the bumps go away, then you can start to add your regular skin care products back in, one by one and if you get the bumps back, you'll know which product did it.
one more thing, it could be your make-up. didn't even think of that one. have you gotten any new make-up recently? that's another one to consider.

If you want to figure this out yourself, you'd have to go through several trial and error sessions. Eliminate anything new that you may have added to your cosmetic routine within the past month, give it a week, and see if the rash resolves itself. You would have to do this one product at a time. It could also be a food allergy. The most common allergens are food colorings (red is a big one!), nuts, seafood, MSG, and garlic. You'll also have to eliminate those one by one and wait a week or so. Really, if you want a quick solution you really should see an allergist and subject yourself to testing; if you want a cost effective resolution, try the do-it-yourslef version at home.

Different things cause different allergic reactions in places throughout the body. Sometimes creams we put on our face have ingredients that do not agree with us and cause pimples. Have you purchased a new cream or lotion or soap in the last few days?
Sometimes various berries give us reactions....strawberries, raspberries etc. Sometimes seafood will cause swelling in the body. The best way to know is to have test done at a Allergy Specialist's office and see what reaction you have to various chemicals he scratches on your skin for a few minutes.
I have allergic reactions to tomatoes, dairy products, seafood, latex, preserves in food and artifical colouring, perfume and antibotics. It took me a year to discover what was causing me to turn red and swell so many times especially my fingers and toes.

Theres no way of knowing for sure unless you go see your doctor. Have you started using a new washing detergent? Or have you bought a new sweater or shirt made out of some kind of "different" material. Or have you tried any foods that you never have before? Just some things to help. Good luck!

Try any new makeup, perfume, lotions, soaps, etc. lately? How about did you drive through a construction zone with the heater on high? Hope you figure out what it is. Good luck and let us know what it was.

you could be allergic to any number of things like a certain food, your make-up, and even latex. i have a latex allergy and i get severe hives. if you are allergic to latex you have to be careful of rubber gloves and balloons. some people with a latex allergy can't even wear undergarments like bras and underwear because their allergy is so severe.

go to the allergist. You'll get some shots that will let you know what you're allergic to.
