I find that they are nice because nothing sticks, but after multiple uses they start to warp especially if you wash them in the dishwasher. I'm also a little concerned about the chemicals they leave in the food, if any. I'm going back to my metal pans.

I've used silicone bakware and have had great success with it. It cooks food evenly, burns less, and releases cakes/muffins/etc from the molds with ease. However, I did find that it is not a good idea to wash the silicone bakeware with soap. I've found that it leave a slight soapy taste which is never pleasant. I clean my silicone bakeware with really hot water and I make sure that there are no food particles left over.
However, if you are going to make a casserole for a potluck or a dish that needs to be transported, traditional glass or teflon-coated bakeware is better. It doesn't bend, and it transports better.
Also, I have a silicone oven mitt, which is great! It protects your hands from heat and provides a non-slip surface when lifting heavy trays/pots/pans.
I hope that helps!

no. I once used a silicone bunt pan. i thought it was hard to place in the oven because I couldn't set it down and slide it in. I also thought it was hard to remove it for the same reason. The cake I made with it broke and I don't think it cooked as well. The only advantage was that it was easier to clean.

If you mean the teflon-coated cookware, I have used a few sets. The nonstick part is wonderful- for about 6 months or so. After that, the coating starts pitting and scratching and peeling off, and it sticks worse than the plain stainless steel.
Needless to say, I've started replacing the teflon-coated stuff with other pans.
Now- I do have a set of nonstick muffin pans that are still holding out well. So I'm not in a hurry to replace those.

I love my silicone pans because nothing sticks like others have said. I can speak to whether they warp in the dishwasher, I don't have one, but they haven't warped when hand washed. I've used them for a bunch of different things and they work perfectly.

Silicone bakeware the hassle free choice
Silicone bakeware has received a great deal of attention and praise from professional bakers and pastry chefs. The base material used to create silicone is pure fine grain sand which is converted into flexible silicone sheets by applying a specialized high temperature and pressure processe. Food grade silicone is completely safe and meets all FDA food safety standards. Various silicone bakeware items are created by molding silicone sheets into different shapes. Silicone bakeware comes in a variety of interesting shapes and colors providing bakers with a lot of room for creativity . Examples of items in silicone bakeware sets include silicone muffin pans, baking cups, baking mats and liners.
Silicone bakeware efficiently distributes heat which results in even browning. Being flexible you don't have to coax that muffin or cake out of a rigid form; instead you simply peel away the silicone mold. Once you are done baking you can use a soft cloth and warm water or throw the bakeware in the dishwasher.
Silicone bakeware is dishwasher safe and microwave safe and can even be used in toaster ovens so long as it is not placed too close to an open flame or element. Storage is also one of the attractive features since silicone bakeware can be compressed into tight spaces without deforming or losing its shape.
Baking Tip
The material your pans are made from and their surface affect the baking time. For glass or non-stick pans, especially the darker ones lower the oven temprature by 25°F (10°C)
Key features and benefits of silicone bakeware
There are many advantages to using silicone bakeware over traditional metal-based bakeware. Below is a list of the most important features and benefits.
* Taking out baked goods is a snap given the flexibility; no more cutting out cakes or muffins out of inflexible metal molds and pans
* Can be stored in tight spaces since it can be scrunched and squeezed without losing its shape
* Professional silicone bakeware is completely non-stick and dishwasher safe making cleaning a snap
* Silicone bakeware can withstand temperates of up to 500ºF; it can be used in the freezer (to make interesting popsicles for kids) in the microwave or even the toaster oven
* Will not retain the odor of baked goods due to its smooth non-porous surface
Key points to remember when using your silicone bakeware:
* Given the flexibility always place on a tray or cookie sheet before filling and transporting to prevent spillage
* As with all baking always carefully monitor the progress and browning as this may vary from your experience; silicone bakeware does a great job of evenly distributing heat so your cakes and muffins may require less time in the oven
* After removal from oven allow baked goods to cool completely before removal
* Avoid using silicone bakeware over open flame or under broilers where direct heat can damage the bakeware
* When cleaning, avoid using bleach, scouring pads or any other abrasive methods as this will damage the smooth surface
* Never cut out baked goods from silicone bakeware using knives or other sharp implements

I gave my set to my grandsons to play with. Was really disapointed with bakeware. EVERYTHING sticks. I must be doing something wrong. My 2 y.o. grandson looks really cute when he turns the bunt pan wrongside out and wears it for a hat!!
