Education and the society?

Hey guys, i am writing a paper, and i need some ideas and pointers on education and the society.

Basically i need ideas on how education has helped the society. how has it made a better place to live? how are education society related? and how does it increase the living standards?

any help will be appreciated!!

Do a search for literacy rates and/or national literacy rates. I've had to find the same info once and I got everything I needed and more. If you look a little bit, You can find comparisons of literacy rates to economic levels per nation.

helped improve living standards at home (cleanliness, equality, running tap water, electricity, etc), at work (improved type writers, computers, calculators, photocopiers, etc), and in public (improved cleanliness/efficiency/procedures for public buses/trains/hospitals, etc)

increased technology=better efficiency=more costly=increased standard of living.
