my 11 year old dog; a great pet, friend & family member doesn't have much longer. & will either pass on by himself, or will be put to sleep by the time i get home for winter break.
this seriously upsets me. & after just reading an email from my dad about his condition, I'm in even more of a wreck! but i still have work/class to contend with for a few more weeks (not including the time off i have for thanksgiving next week). but I'm unsure if i can take all the BS I'm constantly surrounded by. what advise do any of you have?

I'm so sorry. I know this is an awful time, made even worse by the fact that you're not able to be home right now. When you call home, have your dad put the phone to the dogs ear and talk to him as you would if you were there...hearing your voice will be comforting to him and will also make you feel closer. As difficult as it is to do...I have always been with my pets when they were "put to sleep" or died on their own...it gives you closure, and also the comfort of knowing your presence was felt by the pet and the last thiing they see before going. I have been thru this a few times, and my heart aches for you. Just do your best and stay in touch with your family

Remember that all of us are only here for a certain amount of time . The other thing is if he is in pain he will be better off going to sleep . Keep your chin up and talk with friends & family .

i'm going thru the same as you almost. my dog of 8yrs has congestive heart failure and everytime i see him walking oh so slow 'i lose it . i've got him meds but the heart doc and pills are 4;000 dollers'so i got the pills but not the heart doc.. it's hard to go thru 'cause they are little angels to us..just remember how much your dog loves you and how the'll never be anyone that loves you like your dog..rite now your dad is taking care of your baby at this time 'and there's not much that can be done at this time.. remember'that when your dog passes 'it will never have to be sick again'cause in heaven everyperson and animal is well and happy there'with lots of playmates... good-luck and god bless. ps hang in there

that is a hard one just keep doing normal every day activities and keep in contact as much as possible with your dad. my partners dad is dying and it is hard on him but takes one day at a time. as for the dog. my dog lived to the age of 15 i was 16 myself at the time so i grew up with the dog from a very young age and she was very protective of me so when she had to be put down it was really hard for me and i sitll miss her. good luck and keep family close,
