Some people are very misinformed. Buddhism is not "idol worship". Buddha is not a god. We bow in reverence and respect to our teacher of the Dharma. As for the question, neither is better because they cannot be compared, the teachings and aspects of each are different from the other. Very good answer Thin Kaboudit, thank you for your wisdom.

That's an interesting question, because both Hinduism AND Buddhism teach respect for the beliefs of others, rather than condeming them to some imaginary Hell, like Islam & Christianity do!
I think Buddhism might have the edge, however, since you can be a Buddhist without having to believe in some imaginary "Dad" in the sky!

Each individual is at their own place on the path of life. What is better for some will not be best for others. This is why there are many religions, philosophies and thoughts. Some of these are more "spiritually centered" than others. Each acts as a stepping stone along the way. Where an individual is on their path will dictate what thought or religion attracts them. And so we move along.

I think Buddhism has a long history of advocating civil rights (e.g. equality of women, homosexuals) where Hinduism has only recently started abandoning their hierarchical structure (caste system, Sati, etc) due to western infuence.

Again, we see some Xtians dissing the other religion. Personally Buddhism is easier to comprehend as it is a very contemplative religion

If you like to pray to gods, Hinduism.
If you like to read stories about being a good person, buddhism.
Hindus believe in a god.
Buddhists(traditional buddhists) believe that praying to a god is pointless, and that only way to happiness is meditation.

Ahem, that would be Buddhism.
Why do either have to be better? They are what they are and they both have value. They are meeting the needs of those who believe.

what makes both of these sets of people as good as each other is ..
even they would tell you that none is better than the other
but both are very different in their beliefs ... so it would be a matter of which one makes sense for you
