Is that the reason you want them? to die? It all depends on how you react to the pills. I take benadryl as a sleeping aid. It is a pill for allergies, but it has the side effect of causing drowsiness in some people. I take 2 at a time. If you take a narcotic sleeping pill, which of course needs a prescription from a doctor, you can become addicted, and yes, you can die from taking too many. But you would have to take 2 to 3 times the recommended dosage to die. Usually the stomach will reject the pills and you will vomit. But it is not a chance you should take. You should check with your doctor as to why you are having trouble sleeping, or why you want to take sleeping pills. Perhaps he will have some solutions that do not involve medications.

Dreamer, I think you are aware of the chance of
overdosing so lets get serious. Prescription meds
help more than otc drugs. A good sleeping pill will
keep you sleep all nigh long. Tow good ones are
Ambien the 10 mg and Serequel 200 mg,
I sleep a lot better and can get up bright and early
and with no tiredness or anything. Sometimes
it's different with some people so see your Dr.
about it.

I used to have a lot of insomnia, but I hated the idea of taking a depressant to help me sleep. Then I heard that many times you feel groggy in the morning after you take them. There is a natural supplement called melatonin (spelling?) which I have used with great success. Melatonin is the chemical which your body secretes to induce sleep. You take it about 30 minutes before you go to bed. If I ever woke up during the night, usually to use the bathroom, I would have no trouble going right back to sleep, and there's no morning grogginess and it's all natural.

A lot of people try to overdose on sleeping pills because they ARE available over the counter. However, I'd definitely spend the extra half hour and couple of bucks to ask for a recommendation. You might not need them, and if you do, your doctor will let you know which are best for you. Please be careful!

I've taken a whole pack of Sominex and a bottle of Tylenol PM before. I'm still here.
Most over the counter sleep aids work for awhile but their potency will ware off after awhile.
