First things first, you can't chip an Essex V6 engine since it is too old to use an ECU. You also can't buy an induction kit since it uses carbs and a cat back exhaust? this engine never had a cat fitted. Don't you just love answers from people who don't know what they're talking about
From memory it is possible to tune this engine to give over 200bhp. I found a couple of websites with lots of info which should be some help. With an engine like this you are looking at a capacity increase, gas flowed cylinder heads, higher lift cams and bigger carbs.

An Essex?? The old 3 litre V6?? Bit of a nail of an engine with quite a few inherent faults. Certainly some head work would yield benefits, and possible a cam change. If it hasn't been done already get that nasty fibre timing wheel replaced with a steel one before it breaks up and drops into the sump, and ensure the cooling system, which was marginal at the best of times is working well. The Essex also had weak big ends and mains, so an uprated oil pump is always a good idea.
The 3L V6 is not the best engine to try to tune, could be time for a change of vehicle.

This is the engine that used to drive the MK1 & 2 Ford Capri. You are limited with what you can do to the mechanics. No electronic options with this lump of iron. Change the camshafts for a start or mayby keep a lookout for an inlet manifold off a 3.1 RS with webbers on. Whichever way you'll go about it, I can't see it being cheap or quick. Ever thought of shoehorning a 2.8i Cologne engine in?

I have an Audi V6. Like you would any car, for good performance, take care of it. Keep your brakes and tires in good shape. Check the oil regularly and fill it with the best you can afford. I also believe that premium gas is better. Enjoy!

try a cold air intake or a new chip cat back exhaust is also a good way i wouldn't put nos in your car depending on your regs in your state it may be illegal also it will void your warranty and isn't a safe way to go if money isn't a question you may look at a supercharger but that ll cost 2000.00 plus a new chip will run you 100 or so cat back exhaust is 600.00 or so a cold air intake would be around 150.00

cheaply? Nitrous. right way? TURBO! low boost (6-10 psi) will plant you back in the seat with a grin on your face, not to mention the cool sound of the turbo spooling up.
