I have to fly every week for my job of 2 years and flying can some times scare me. Things that help me are listening to music, talking to someone, reading, bring a camera and take pictures... the view will be amazing!
I know everyone says "It's the safest route of travel" but that doesn't make you feel any safer.
Take a deep breath and think... people do it alllll the time, every day, for years! Just "let it go", try to enjoy the experience and let fate take care of the rest. You'll be fine.
As far as 911 goes... security is really tight, I don't think ANYONE is going to try and hijack a plane for quite a while. The few that have tried, have been caught!
The ways its been.... being at SCHOOL is more dangerous.

As everyone said, very safe. Plus planes can glide. I was in a private plane free-falling (controlled, not a crash) and they really don't fall fast. I have a few pilot friends and in simulation class they have both engines start on fire, flaps not work and all this crazy stuff and that can still land safetly. Oh, and 2 by 2 is not very small. I usually fly in a 1 by 1 plane smaller than a school bus. And the advantage of it being small is that is not the type of plane a terrorist wants. Just bring lots of stuff that will distract you and make sure you eat the snacks and drinks given to you, it will make you feel better, other wise your stomach can start to cramp up from nerves.

Preoccupy yourself with a music player, psp, book or magazine. I have flown on a few international flights since 9/11 and even though I don't live in the US, its actually other factors that scare me. Although I like to think I'm the one scaring myself. I feel my heart racing before and during take off, but I have learned to suppress my fear. Thats usually the worse part, but after that, I don't even give it a thought that I'm on a plane. Except I am sharing a toilet with people I don't know, and eating really awful food.
Ask yourself, would you be more comfortable sitting in the window seat or aisle seat?
Why are you scared of the plane crashing?
Is it the turbulence thats going to scare you?
Before 9/11 have you flown before, and were you scared then?
There's no real methods of easing what you are feeling, this is a classic fight or flight situation. Airports have programmes to help people get over their fear of flying, and in the end they still stick you on a plane and make you watch the take off and landing. This is making you face up to it head-on.
But definitley preoccupy yourself during take-off and landing. Bring some chewing gum.
I have to say that my last domestic flight was a very good experience, the take off was smooth and I couldn't actually tell the difference between land or mid-air. The landing was brilliant since it was by far the best and again very smooth. I didn't even know we were already on land, I would love to have thank the pilot and shake his hand for a job well done.

If you are flying jet blue, it is not a "small" airplane. New Hampshire is a really nice state to visit, and your flight will be very comfortable. Many people have a fears of flying, but usually relax once airborne, and they tend to enjoy the flight. When you board the aircraft, let the flight attendant know it is your first flight and you feel a little scared. They will check on you a little bit, answer any questions you might have, and and make sure you are comfortable.

Hi! I'm 13 years old, I do a ridiculous ammount of flying. Small planes can be bumpy, but when that happens, its just turbulance.
Also, if you are scared of flying, do not be embarrassed to let the flight attendant know, and they can help you feel as comfortable as possible.
That plane doesn't sound like it will have a movie on it, so try to convince your parent that you would really like a portable DVD player to distract you, watching movies can really pass time well.
I did something stupid the day before a flight once, it was something on discovery channel about planes, I'm not going to go on. It was something that really was the equivalent of being scared of terrorists for me. What I did for that was try to occupy myself as much as possible during the flight, game boy, lap top, movie everything I had brought with me...
so to sum it up, distractions distractions, and distractions.

You should always try something new. Especially when its as exciting as taking a memoriable trip that will last a life time.
My suggestion is to take word or a number find, gum and a small worry rock to keep in your pocket. Get settled on the plane open your book and work or read while the passangers settle down. This will help keep your mind on something else. If you extra nervous as the plane takes off take your stone out of your pocket and rub it while you go airborne. The rest of the time should be a breeze. Enjoy yourself and your grea adventure.

Planes are the safest way to travel- I don't really like flying either, so what I do is take Dramamine or some motion-sickness medicine. It will help you stay calm or even help you take a nap during your trip. New Hampshire is gorgeous, trust me you don't want to miss out! Have fun and be safe.

listen, with all the security right now, its gonnna be extremely hard for one to even get on the plane, plus, they have sky marshals(police) on the plane dressed in regular clothes. and if ur worried about crashing, its a true fact that there are more deaths cause by donkey related accidents then in plane crashes each year

That makes 2 of us. But security is so tight right now, you probably don't need to worry. Just don't bring anything that could be considered dangerous on board. And to pass the time and not worry, bring a Gameboy/DS/PSP. When I bring one of those the flight seems over in minutes.

More now with the terrorist problem. How about leaving ahead of the rest with some sort of land transportation and returning ahead of the rest the same way. Don't do something you are uncompfortable with. You did use the word "TERRIFIED".
