Had all 4 wisdom teeth removed 4 days ago.
Some food seems to be getting stuck in bottom sockets.

Yes, it can... normally. Swishing water is fine to do, its when you suck it up getting ready to spit it out, that does the damage. Swishing with warm salt water is good to do, and helps heal the tissue. But DONT spit it out, just open the mouth and let it ooze out.

BUT... your at 4 days now.. You should be fine. Just be careful... Dont eat anything thats sharp like chips, that can get wedged up in there and cut the scab open. That wouldnt be good, and could be painful. ALSO.. if you think you have food stuck in the holes, get a syringe and clean it out. Irrigating the site isnt going to hurt it or break the scab/clot. It's absolutely safe to do. Like i said, 4 days ... your ready to start irrigating!

Do not use any extreme temperature of water or drink as this can cause problems. Use luke warm water.

Call your dentist's office who did the surgery if you are not sure what to do that. They probably gave you an instruction list of the do's and don't's after the removal of wisdom teeth.

Good luck!

YES!!! It can -= and if you think it hurts now - OMG dry sockets are a millions times worse!.

Do not suck on anything - candy a straw anaything - and if you swish do it so so so gently and then just kinda open your mouth and let it fall out.

It's probably not food - but the clot - it will come out when it's healed.
Call your dentist and go in and have him look - if there IS food he can get it out with no problems - you don't want it to sit cause it could cause an infection. Trust me though - let the dentist do it!!

Call him/her and see what they tell you.
Sorry - good luck!

You can spit out, of course. And yes you can rinse, just a little bit not a bunch. When I did mine, they gave a bunch of gauze to put on the wound. Did they not give you anything to take home? Then try using a clean old tee shirt scrap. It helps to absorb the siliva and blood. The whole idea is to not pull on the wound and stiches. If you are comfortable doing the upside down thing thats okay.

You're actually supposed to be swishing with salt water. I got mine out yesteday and my doctor told me to VERY gently swish around with warm salt water, but don't spit...just let it fall out of your mouth. The cleaner you keep it the faster it'll heal. I don't think it's too safe for you to leave the food in there.......

JOHN,
THE REALLY IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS NOT TO PUT A STRONG NEGATIVE VACUUM ON ANYTHING. EG., SIPHONING GAS, STRAWS, ETC.
TO RINSE YOU MUST NOT SWISH VIGOROUSLY BUT JUST THE WATER FLOW OUT OVER THE SINK, NOT TO SPIT OUT FORCEFULLY.

no probably not just use salt water or just wait for it to heal. it will heal naturally it may be painful but you could just wait.
