My daughter ran into the doorknob while playing chase with her older brother on her recent visit at her fathers house. I sent her to school on Monday not thinking anything of it........ today they called her stepmother and asked her if she knew anything about it. Is there a possibilty that they could have called Division of Family Services on me and if so would I have been able to pick my kids up from school? Im so scared....

The DFS does not take your children away without a complete investigation into the facts that surrounded your childs injury. It is possible that someone at school could hotline what happened to your child if they deemed it to be suspicious but they don't take your kids away in the manner in which you are scared about.

School teachers are mandated reporters and they may have spoken to your child and asked her how she was injured. Depending on her answers, they might place a call to the child abuse hotline. Following the call, an investigator would go to the school and interview your child. Depending on your child's responses, an investigator would then interview you and collateral contacts. An investigator would also search your state's data base to see if you have a child abuse/neglect history. If your child was going to be removed from you, you would be the first one to know because the police would accompany an investigator to your home and remove the child. It is a rare exception that a child is removed from school unless there is a clear cut case of abuse or neglect.

If they called the stepmother and she said she had no idea how it happend, and they asked your daughter and did not believe her then yes they can call family services and no you wouldn't be able to get your kids from school

Family services would have met with her at school most likely if they were called and then they would have paid you a visit. I would not worry about it, you did nothing wrong and they will know that.

They have to investigate first. You may pick up your children dear, try not to worry. Even good mommies get called on sometimes. I did. I took my foster son to the meeting about my daughter with me. That was very helpful in getting them to see my side of things. A piece of furniture had fallen on her and she had been heard saying I had tried to kill her. It was her idea of a sense of humor.

NO, you wouldnt be. They would retain the child in the office until they were able to get in contact with a parent or relative
