And possibly Catholic Practices versus Lutheran Rituals?

Lutherans claim we're saved by faith alone.

Catholics know that God saves us.

Lutherans claim to have authority for their faith based on their claims that scripture somehow gives it to them.

Catholics get their authority form Jesus Christ himself.

Lutherans consider scripture their sole rule of faith, even though scripture never makes that claim.

Catholics consider the Church the sole faith authority, because that's the way Jesus set everything up, and scripture confirms it.

Lutherans look to ordinary men for leadership.

Catholics look to the Pope and the bishops, whose offices were established, mandated, and confirmed by God.

At every Catholic Mass Jesus Christ becomes physically and substantially present on the altar.

At every Lutheran service, due to their break from the authority of the true Church, the bread and wine they offer to God remains just that.

its virtually the same. Martin Luther was a priest in a catholic and did not like the corruptness of the catholic church, ie for penence the church was taking money saying "if you give me money your sins will be forgiven." Luther didnt believe in that so he wrote the a letter to the church and nailed it on the door. that was the beginning of the lutheran religion
