Why is my 1 year old son so mean???
He hits(me including) He pulls hair, he bites. He screams temper tantrums.takes things away from other babies, and will just lay on top of them knowing they are screaming.???Why is he doing this and how do I fix it without spanking him and making him think it is ok.

Time out.
Pick him up and sit him in a corner where he has to stay for a set time (1 minute) explaining that his behaviour is not acceptable. If he tries to crawl/walk away put him back until he understands.
I know i'ts not right to hit children but maybe he should get a smack so he knows how it feels to be hit. You don't have to smack him hard, the shock of unexpected contact should be enough. Smack him on the nappy and it won't hurt him at all, just shock.
But try the time out first, hopefully that will be enough to teach him appropriate behaviour.

Spare the rod just yet. One yr. old is still getting used to being a separate entity. It's not uncommon for ones and twos to do this. Be firm and remove him if he's hurting another child. Use your voice inflection to show displeasure. Now, if he continues this behavior after the terrible two's start thinking about ADD/ADHD. Was he really active in the womb? I realized my son had ADD at about 3 or 4 yr old. We found out that spanking only made matters worse. We used removal of things he liked to correct aggressive behavior. Had a really tough teen years but he is 22 now and a pretty well adjusted pizza delivery guy/musician. Did it w/o medications too. Not easy but very worth it. Good luck and peace of mind.

He wants attention. Something is wrong. First of all, start giving time outs. If he decides to move, every time he does just plop him back on there and reset the timer. Once the timer is over you need to try and explain that he cant get away with doing that. Then ask him why is he doing that if he had no answer then you just need to observe him...I dunno I hope this helps somewhat.
