I really need a knife that can cut through a soup can and a tomato.

Go ahead and poke fun at the amazing Ginsu....but I received a set of them for letting a vacuum sales dude into my house. I had two friends over and were were drinking so we invited the poor guy in.
I didn't buy the $1350 vacuum but I got knives for free, he got drunk and I STILL use the knives. A couple of them were actually really sharp and good for everything.
And when I'm making my old pipe and thin tomato slice soup....the knife comes in real handy.

No. all you need is can-opener and a plain normal knife

I used to until i tried to cut a can with it, then I threw it out.
