I have to refi my car per the courts which is fine but just over a year ago we filed a bk. I have reestablished my credit and want to know what should I do. My credit score is 629-660. I was also thinking of just selling the car since I owe 6300 on a 2002 ford focus. Any advice is helpful.
Thank You.

Check with your BK lawyer before doing anything. As far as Cap One goes... I dont adv anyone to go to them just simply cuz I work at a credit reporting agency and they are the number one creditor for reporting things wrong like balance and late dates. Doesnt mean its like that for everyone I've just seem a lot of neg things from them.

You'd be lucky to get 3000 for your car if you sell it. Sometimes, a trade-in for a new vehicle will work but you would have to roll over any residual to a new loan which is common. I've had to do this twice! Not a good idea to do it more than once though. Get as much for the trade in as possible by trying different car dealers. Do your homework on the vehicle you want as far as dealer cost, etc. There are some finance companies that may refi your car, shop around online.. if you want to keep the car. My advice, get rid of the Ford... yuck! I had a Ford Taurus once.. so many recalls on it I think they recalled the recall! Good luck to you!

Since you went through the BK..check with your attorney who handled that and see if you can re-affirm with the company, assuming you had the loan on the car prior to the BK. My ex reaffirmed a car and they put it solely into his name. If not, check with Capital One as they offer refi's on car loans. Your credit score seems ok and if you wanted you could sell the car and get a new one in your name only.
