No it will not effect your application at all ! You in fact have not been given a criminal conviction for the offence you committed when younger , You have basically been told off and sent on your way home , never to offend again !
You would be surprised to know that there are many many police officer`s who have had a criminal conviction and are serving officers in the police force today ! However the conviction`s are only very minor , so don`t worry there is no murderer`s / burglar`s etc amongst them ! But did you know certain criminal activities by any other family member`s can stop you from getting into the police force ? Log on to police could you .com for more info .............. Good Luck

Your juvenile caution will be spent after 3 years, how ever, it does still remain on record and should always be disclosed, but shouldn't have any effect on your application as long as you can demonstrate that you have led a responsible and crime free life since!!

I have a friend I work with, who had a record for stealing a car when he was 16, he was honest about it, we have to be police checked for our job and it didn't hold him back.

Check with police recruitment in your local area to be sure, but it will be a whole lot worse if you don't tell them and they find out during the application process, you will be straight down the swanny if that's the case.

A clean drivers licence and passing the exams is more important, to be honest, they will probably appreciate it that you have had experience of life and turned your self around. You might find it easier toapply as a PSCO first of all, many forces aren't recruiting any officers until they have filled a quota of PSCOs anyway, but it is fairly easy to move up from there.

Well done mate, and good luck, it's a hard job but a good one. The stick they get really isin't warranted in the vast majority of cases.

Don't you just love the unhelpful answers saying that we're all deceptive and unhelpful....

A caution for a minor offence will be spent after 5 years or when you reach the age of 18. You will only have to disclose it to organisations like the police/social services/NHS/schools e.t.c. but not to normal everyday jobs.

It won't affect getting into the police and the only person who need ever know about it is the person who vets the application forms. They might tell your immediate line manager (ie your LAC inspector) but they won't tell anyone else without your consent.

Generally a juvenile record would be destroyed when you turn the age of majority. It should not cause you a problem even if disclosed for an application to the police services. They will go by much more important aspects of your character and experience.

No...not a caution, but as Big Gob tells us - best disclose it to PC99 if of course you do get serious about it.

Probably not.... and if it was for deception or intimidation.... it will probably enhance your chances of getting in...you could even end up as Chief Inspector...
