I have two dogs, a pup about 7 months and an older dog about 12 years. both of them and my husband and i live in a small unit. unfortunatly the toilet training never took. so now we have a doggie smelling house. can any one suggest the quickest and cheapest way to get all the urine and smell out of large area of carpet. i know you have to break up the enzime compound of the urine but what works well and is real cheap? (and yes i know we need to get them toilet trained. we're on to that.) Please help!!

Dog lover here; I have found pure vinegar poured directly on the carpet and left over night removes urine odor. It doesn't damage, stain, or effect the color of the carpet what so ever. Then I spray the carpet daily lightly with vinegar after vacuuming.

First, look up KENNEL training, and STICK TO IT. 100% of the time.

Next, clean up any areas you can with water mixed with white vinegar. (I keep a spray bottle handy for all kinds of odors, it's safe to clean anything with, edible, non toxic) This will kill the scent as well as any commercial cleaner. NEVER use anything with ammonia, it smells like pee to a dog.

If you can, get a $80 steam cleaner from Walmart. Fill with half hot water and half white vinegar, shampoo as usual.

Lastly, get RENUZIT plug in oil scented things..you plug them into the outlet and they really SMELL GOOD. I have tried the glade, the automatic machines that puff out scent every so often, scented reed things so popular right now...nothing works as well as the RENUZIT scented oil things. Trust me on this.

Oh, and once the carpet is dry, sprinkle carpet fresh on every few days, leave for the day then vac up.

If you can't get the dogs trained, consider a doggy door (so they can go out when they want), be sure they are FIXED so they are not marking, and lastly consider baby gates to keep them in the kitchen if you just can't keep them from peeing.

Toilet training never took? People problem, not a doggie problem. Keep trying. Don't use pee pads, teach them that going to the bathroom is exclusively for the yard/walk. You need to be consistent.

http://www.leerburg.com offers a multitude of advice.

Get two kennells and start training your dogs. They can learn if you are consistent.

No, the tomato juice element is particular to skunk smell and as properly it could stain a easy-colored canine's coat and would not artwork all that properly besides. a miles better recipe used for skunk that could artwork for fish smell too is as follows: Make a mix of a million qt of three% hydrogen peroxide, a million/4 cup of baking soda, and a million teaspoon of dishwashing liquid like Palmolive. this is the well-known recipe stated with the help of mulitple plant life and fauna and animal protection companies. the mixture will foam, use it precise away (this is the oxygenation that eliminates the fragrance) and not in any respect save in a closed container.

There is no way except to tear up the carpet and start new... but leave the floor bare until you can get those pups trained!
