First, remember that this is YOUR day. There are alot of myths and legends as to why brides wear veils, but if you don't want to then don't. The most imporant things is that you feel beautiful and comfortable on your wedding day.
Or if you do want a veil but aren't sure about wearing one with your hair down, then just go talk to your hairstylist and see what they say. Some down hairstyles can be worn with veils, but you can't remove them for the reception or some you can. It all depends on what you're looking for. Also check with where you're getting your wedding dress or even just a local boutique and ask them. The would be able to tell you what veils and head pieces could be worn with and/or would look best with your chosen hairstyle.
Best of luck!

If you want your hair down and veil-free, leave it down by all means!! The reason that veils became associated with weddings can be tracked to 2 things. the first is when men were still barbaric and used to kidnap brides, by throwing a sack over their head! the other is from arranged marriages. the bride would keep her face hidden from the man until after the ceremony, so that no matter how unattractive she might be, he could not back down on his promise. Not a nice thing to think of, but i think that if you leave your hair down (which is what people used to do traditonally, symbolising virginity and that a woman was not wed, then it'd be covered after the ceremony with a ring of flowers) than it could be a veil in it's own sense!

honestly unless you feel the need to wear one for whatever reason, then no, a veil is not necessary at all. Some brides have just the tiara, some just have a barett with flowers that match their bouquet. It's all about personal preference. There's tons of things you could use, or not even use anything if you're so inclined. Good luck with your wedding, it's sometimes stressful.

It is possible to wear a wedding veil with your hair down but no, a wedding veil is not required. The link below has pictures of a bride with her hair down and a veil as well. I have another picture, of my sister in law, but I don't have it online anywhere.

You can still wear a veil even though you're hair will be down. It is completely up to you!! Personally, I am not going to have a veil because it doesn't suit my personality...I'm all about tradition, but not THAT much into it!

You can wear your hair down and still have a veil. I found some at daivds bridal that would work with loose hair.It is not necessary at all. You can wear a flower or just a tiara. Its all up to you.
Good luck.

no they aren't. My oppinion is that it is so pretty and kinda mysterious (for lack of a better word) to see a bride coming down the isle with a veil on. and when the dad lifts it over and kisses his daughter, oh! thats so sweet. but that's just my oppinion and memories from my wedding, which I think was perfect to me! It's ur day, u do whatever makes u happy ur the one who will have the beautiful memories forever and Good Luck!!

No--honestly, it's an expensive accessory that isn't needed anymore. It comes off early and if a bride leaves it behind, it's not of huge concern.
I just got married and used a simply tiara, and it looked great. A veil is just pompous after awhile.
If you don't want to wear one, then don't wear one.

No, veils are not necessary (and can be rather pricey).
However, should you decide you do want one, you do not have to wear your hair up:
Over the hair (top of head), if down
Under up-do (back of head), if up
Congrats!
