Well, that easy. The bible is difficult to navigate. As full of truth as it maybe, it very poorly contexted. For example, how long would it take you to find every variation of the Ten Commandments in the Holy Bible? Did you even know that there were variations? People have had to write books about how to read the bible. Reading a book about how to read a book!
Second, interaction. I enjoy YA because not only do I get answers, I also get feedback. A persons opinion is also very valuable thing. It's also fun.
Best wishes.

The Bible says that we have Don't have any need for a Man to Teach us because the Holy Spirit will Lead and Guide us into All Truth. (ya gotta Seek too!).
Then, GOD Gives us Teachers!
Wait, I just found a Contradiction?
Nope, I haven't.
I will Explain:
Everybody Learns at a Different Rate.
What took This Person 10 Years to Learn---another Person can Buy his,her Teaching CD and Learn it in a Couple of Days, Weeks etc.
Teachers Speed-Up the Process of Learning.
Yes, we will have All Eternity to Learn Truth from the Holy Spirit at Our Own Rate.
But we Gotta Learn alittle Quicker down here, so as we can get as Many Saved as we can (or Will be Saved---theres that Free-Will again!).
Hope this Helps.

The Bible can be interpreted several different ways. It is good to get more than one person's view so that you may pray and be able to discern for yourself the one most clear to you. If you ask for enlightenment the Holy Spirit will help you understand. But to glean another person's understanding is a good way of getting the insight that you would not have on your own sometimes. Many on this website are more knowledgeable than I am about certain things like for instance ancient Judaism, so I ask and there are those who have given information I would not have gotten on my own. I think it is a wonderful way to get other views.

There are two factors. One is fear. The other is that overwhelming feeling when something looks too hard.
The fear comes from either finding something that they did not want to hear or finding no answer or finding out that they have to change. Any one of these things can stop a person from looking up anything.
The overwhelming feeling comes from how much time it will take. The Bible for example is not a small book and not clear on a simple read. You really have to study the text. In my Bible study group we spent over an hour on one verse on multiple occasions. You can learn so much from the Bible, but you have to learn it in context.
This is true for many other topics as well as religion. I told a girl in a controlling relationship to get a book on controlling men. She did not want to face the control issues and between her fear and that overwhelming feeling of hours of study, she did not read anything on the issue. I wish I could help her, but "you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink."
Keep up your Bible study and use those study methods for everything and you will be wise beyond your years.
Take care,
Troy

personal interpretation of the bible can lead to personal and human misunderstandings, the way you read a specific text will more than likely not be the same as any other person. that is why you need to study and need the help of others. jesus instituted the church as a means to unify universally his word as he passed the authority to peter and the other apostles. that is why you see in the new testament that after the 4 gospels the rest is letters etc. relating to the church and perfecting the church, notice how the apostles would travel far and wide to rectify those preaching falsely and correcting the churches to a unified teaching and understanding. remember also they were guided by the holy spirit. hope this helps god bless.

Yah I too have wondered why some questions that are easily found in the Bible are asked- BUT I do believe fellowship is important and speaking to other christians about what they are receiving from the word of God. That is why bible study is so important- The Holy Spirit may show something to someone that you did not get out of it. So when someone asks what a verse may mean- I dont think that is lazy, I think they truly want to know what we other christians are getting from that verse. But as far as easy questions about where a verse is in the Bible- you can go to www.biblegateway.com too to look up verses, and its very quick.

There are a lot of books about the bible that could also stand to be read; such as The Dark Side of Christian History by Hellen Ellerbe.....

Sometimes, especially with a difficult decision, it is hard to see the forest for the trees. In those times another set of eyes can come in handy. Sometimes we know the answer but it simply feels good to have our opinions validated by someone else.

Well sometimes you can't do it by yourself. What if its a math problem or some history about indians? The bible tells a lot, but not everything that had happened since then. Sometimes we also need advice.
