Collect all your old homework and tests that led to this bad grade. Whatever mistakes you made, you must be sure to correct them or you will make them again. Since all math builds using the concepts from before, if you miss steps along the way, you need to go back and correct these before you can understand the next steps, or you won't learn those right either.

This is a good thing to do. That is how everyone learns math, by correcting mistakes. It will also show your teacher you care to fix what the problem is so you can do better. But you cannot just start fresh where you are. You need to understand what went wrong with the previous lessons. By doing this with the help of your teacher and/or an additional tutor, you will also learn better how to interact with your teacher, what is meant by the questions or how the format and grading is set up, etc. So once you understand how the teacher runs the class, it won't seem like such a big mystery, and you can keep up better. Another hint -- always read in your math book a little bit ahead of the teacher, so you know what to expect next. If the teacher skips around, then ask the teacher for a written schedule that shows the pages of the chapters in the order they will be taught. This will also help take the mystery out of the class. Take care and get help from a tutor and from your teacher. That is a good thing for all students to do.

do you think you deserve it? did you study hard or not? have you really practiced your problems when given? if you think you don't deserve it and had studied hard, tell your parents and show them proof (your test, homework, quizzes, etc). if you somehow feel guilty that you didn't do better or you didn't understand and didn't seek help, please ask for help--either teacher, parents, friends with better grades, etc. and vow to study harder and practice the problems more :)

you can do it!

Take it as a lesson that you have to work harder.
