How in depth depends on the age of the child; generally with love and conversation; the family dinner table is the best place to bring up issues and discussions; if you do this from the time that they are little then there are few surprises; you have set a good foundation and have open the lines of communication; you have to start talking with your children while they are young and making it comfortable for them to talk and for you to listen as well. If you children know that the door is always open no matter what question, you stand a better chance to reach them then if you wait until they are older and then want to talk.

i don't think i've ever said "don't drink, don't smoke , no premarital sex" i have told what the consequences are for drinking and showed them the consequences of drinking (liver and kidney failure, yellow skin, wrinkles on a 30 year old woman when i was 30. i looked younger than half her age)
i smoke and they've heard me coughing and hacking and getting bronchitis etc., they know what it can and will do.
they've been to the morgue to see drunk driving and speeding accidents.
when they became old enough to make their own decissions in life (because no one's there to say 'no') it will be their decissions and there will be nothing i can do about it at that point.

at age 12 each of my girls (step) took a cpr class for babysitting. they babysat babies with no help from adults a lot. we did it to let them each know if you have sex, you can get pregnant and it's all on you, then.

i gave my girls life lessons. yes, they screwed up every once in a while. don't we all? one mistake does not a bad person make.

your mind is like a parachute - it only works when it's open.
find your life's purpose. everyone's is different. find your own.
do what feels 'right'. if it doesn't 'feel right', it probably isn't and will get you into trouble.
boys are nothing but trouble.
girls are nothing but trouble.
yourself. that's the only person in this world you can count on to be there for you.
find your higher power. what ever you want to call him or her is up to you. find your higher power what ever it takes.
try one thing everyday that you wouldn't ordinarily do.
you live your own life for yourself. not for anyone else.
remember, what comes around goes around. it's called karma.
there are natural concequences and rewards in life. accept them.
accept compliments and let the rest fall away.

If children are unchurched with no knowledge of God, life is really hopeless. It is a cruel world out there and very hard to raise children without morals spiritually to give them hope. If I weren't a christian and taught Gods love and rules to my kids, I would be lost at what to tell them. What is the world teaching them? To look beautiful and drink this smoke this, try this... and a lot of sex is what the world is teaching. What would the God who created us teach us? It is in His Word, the Bible.

Live life to the fullest, dont sweat the small stuff. That is what I hope my kids learn. My 2 year old taught me that, she has cerebral palsy and has died and cpr brought her back 3 times, after that you cant sweat the small stuff and you have to live life to its fullest

Always be honest and truthful- the one thing people can not take from you or change is your opinion.
