I have Windows XP Home. My 30 day activation grace period has expired. I reinstalled XP on another HD and made the older one a slave. I need to access my old documents folder but (a very common problem) access is denied. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Nope - its doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

Log on as the same username you had before. The problem is that your old my documents is only allowing user "Tom" as you protected your MyDocuments folder. If you log on with "Tommy", this forder does not belong to you. Oh yea, also use the same password as before.

Alternatively, you could log on as administrator in safe mode. tap the F8 key as the computer is turning on and select safe mode at the prompt.

im not sure if u can access old documents off an old computer unless you had the hard drive from the old computer transfered to ur new one. if u have then u must have some kind of virus or something like that. Ive had many viruses and i had the same problem. i called my computer company and my ISP (Internet Service Provider). They were able to help me. An ISP person came 2 my house and fixed the problem. i havent had any viruses on my computer since 2004. Any time i start having problems like that again, i first call ISP and then i defragment my computer. usually it clears it right up. But every now and then it wont do anything and ISP tells me what to do and then my computer is back to normal. If it is a virus, then u need to get a program that blocks spam and pop-ups and a program that cures your virus. And youre welcome.

The folder you're trying to access your my documents is locked. Below is a link for a file unlocker, install this little program, right click on the folder you wish to open, click on the magic wand, then select unlock. That should let you rite in.

You ship them what they requested for. Copies of your ID proving your identification and age. Copies of a application document proving wherein you reside. If you're a vendor, copies of invoices displaying how you've got been purchasing the models you promote.
