Yes, you can gain weight if all you eat is veggies or being a vegetarian. (1) The fact is that if you eat too much of anything including veggies you can put on weight. (2) Eating soy-based meat substitutes (3) Processed foods-vegetarian refied beans & so on (4) Not much exercise. (5) Lifestyle (not much speep, eating between meals..). (6) Eating fry foods. All in all you should try & eat the good stuff in moderation. It will play a big part in the life of a vegetarian. I know vegetarians who use things like cheese, lots of sugar-little water if any & fry food-weight gain. If your're having this problem while eating only veggies try changing your lifestyle, diet & exercise. Try this website. This is one of the best health site out there. www.drmcdougall.com

Its definitely possible, but generally if you only eat veggies you are staying away from a lot of high saturated fat, high carb foods, which is where most people overdo it. You gain weight when the amount of food you ingest is greater than the amount your body uses for energy. The problem a lot of vegans have is making sure they get enough protein, calcium, and iron to make sure their muscles and bones dont shrivel up, cuz if that happens you will lose weight (muscle and bone mass) but still be gaining fat.

It is not necessarily what you eat, but how much you eat that causes a shift in the scale. It all has to do with your calorie intake. 3,500 calories is equal to a pound. Whether you consumed that amount from eating various veggies or a few slices of pie will still add a pound on the scale.

It depends, but I can't imagine being able to overeat on vegetables because of the fiber in them, so I'll go with probably not, but that it's a possibility. Like if all you ate was pumpkins, avocados, squash, potatoes, carrots, beets, then maybe you could.. if you ate a lot of it all.
