Fence is not the proper solution to curb immigration. The US must give aid for development of its neighboring countries so that people will improve their standard of living in their home countries and will not come to America for greener pastures.

I am in agreement with many that we must control our borders. It is a national security issue and the drug lords freely pass drugs into the United States. Okay but we have problems on both sides of the "f". The "fence" will not stop the corruption of US Officials who allow these drugs to be passed. These same officials will have a key to open that "border fence" to admit the drug lords but will not permit the passage of the poor illegal immigrant that came to clean up your buildings instead of blowing them up. Why do so many drugs come into the United States? The answer supply and demand. We need these illegal immigrants to work the jobs that our so drug addicted nation will not fill. WE NEED COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM. We do not need to repair the damaged levy by placing our finger in the hole. We need to repair the entire levy. DON'T let these politicians keep you ignorant....This whole smoke screen/border fence is just a ploy to get them reelected. These same politicians know that we need this "illegal" work force just as much as they need us.....Think.....if it were not true would it have taken them so long to do something about it. NO it wouldn't have. The 911 incident caused us all to think....but did the illegal alien mastermind that event. No, he didn't so why treat him or her as if they did do it.
Who cares build the fence. The American public has clamored that they wish for this atrocity to be built. Then once all those billions of dollars are sunk into the building of this shameful wall......there will be no money for mass deportations...You see this is why the government is building this wall... We all know that it will not serve the purpose for which it is built....They didn't even build a levy that could protect New Orleans..... the illegals crossing are just as unpredictable.....Build the fence so they will be able to say later well we don't have the money now for deportations.......Also you will see discounts on ladders on the other side of the border. You just need a ladder to safely scale the wall without a scratch.

I am 100% unsatisfied. It should span the whole border.
I have an idea! I'm going to build a fence across two feet of the perimeter of my front yard. Will that keep unwanted visitors from coming in.

No, but then again, no one ever said the fence is all they want done. So, I guess as long as there is more, and if it will deter some, then why not? Had Bush not been so in line with the Democrats on the immigration issue a lot more could have been done, but unfortunately, the Democrats and Bush are for amnesty and worker programs, etc. So, if that is what you dig, maybe they can get it done now. The Republicans want much stricter laws.

Don't bother building a fence between Canada and the USA, we Canadians can't be bothered going over to the state anymore. Its too much hassle. Besides we are too busy, drinking beer, and watching hockey, in the winter and summer, drinking beer and fishing, or hunting moose. Doesn't a fence freak you out. Sounds like a Berlin wall thing to me.

The answer is simple, STOP GIVING!!! Stop giving jobs, food stamps, welfare, education, and most of all , a reason to come here in first place.
Illegal and want to be an American? Get in line like everyone before you. How about serving in our military? Two years in armed services should do nicely. Serve and you're an automatic citizen.

I say we ought to 'occupy' our own land for a change with our armed forces, what do you say? Like a stupid fence is gonna' stop 'em from what they've done all this time, like building military grade tunnels and having the entry and exit underneath houses and other small buildings. PUHLease! They can still dig under a chain link! And all they would have to do is run to where it ends and go around anyway! I agree with you. It's pointless.

Yes.
I would be satisfied if the FENCE was the length of whole border and build so high and so long you could see it from outer space!
America will have plenty of money to pay for a fence and guard it. When we cut off all the illegal aliens from WELFARE!!!

Actually, if you think about it, Mexico's houses are all walled up. They have bars on the windows and the door could be used as a bank vault? Why? For the same reasons that US wants to put a wall. So that nobody trespasses on someone else's property. Under this angle.... You know what? I think it's legitimate.

They need to bring the troops home from Iraq to protect our borders. We are being invaded. Cheap labor is not worth turning our country into a shithole.
