Hi, when they are checking for "everything" and I'm getting a blood test tommarow at 9am... do I stop eating at 9pm or midnight... last time it was midnight but they were just checking iron and calcium.. not hemoglobin/red blood cell count or other stuff.

So how long do I fast for?

if you got tests for cholesterol, you have a fasting of 12-14 hours. water is permitted, but no milk, no food, no candy nothing. some places even ask for a 48 hours without alchool too.

iron tests requires 6hours of fasting, that's why, they only asked you to stop eating from midnight.

Unless your doctor told you specifically to do a 12 hour fast it isn't necessary. I've never went more than from midnight to 9:30am and have a regular 'everything' check. Good luck.

i'm not constructive why your known practitioner would say '129 or below.' Did she or he possibly say 126 or below? A fasting blood sugar interpreting of >126 mg/dL is in diabetic variety. that is why I ask. ideally, you'd be fasting less than one hundred to be seen extremely "regularly occurring," yet many docs set targets like

12 hours. I had one in April that checked everything, and it was 12 hours. You're not even allowed water, except a swallow to take essential meds like blood pressure meds. Good luck! It will be a long haul, but you'll make it!
