No, the data is actually on a small film of foil on the top of the disc that is read through the plastic layer that protects it. Once the foil is damaged, the information is gone and cant be recovered.

No way. No. Unless you can find a professional service with a special type of laser, recovery of anything on the disc is impossible. Even if you were to find a recovery service, this type of recovery would easily cost over $1,000.

seems all is lost as its snapped and any recovery from that disk will be very difficult

ahhhhhhhh, no you can not!!!! How is it supposed to spin around in the disk drive if it is in 2 pieces?

from what i know, it is gone forever, or if you are trying to distroy it, scratch the surface not the shiney part with a knife or sharp object, this is where the info is from ((dont know why you would though...))
