I call it one of 'Cat's Law' - a bit like 'Murphys'
It may be true that once you find them you stop looking but any cat owner will know what you mean!
I'm sure they hide on purpose and only when you need to find them!
They never hide in the same place twice cos they know it's the first place you'll look next time!

Because the cat's name is Schrodinger, and he knows the last place you will look will be where you find him, so he goes there and waits for you...
But, if you want to be cruel, stop looking for him at the next to last place, and that will be one sorry cat.
Oh no. I forgot. Cats can read minds. It won't work after all.

Why would you keep looking after you find him?
Whenever a lost object is found, it's ALWAYS the last place you looked.

Cats are much better at finding hiding places than we are about figuring where they might hide.

Actually they are in the first place you look, you just don't see them. They are quite sly! Then when they get tired of snickering at you, they will somehow appear in the last place you look for them.

because they have a catty teleportation device that automatically relocates them to the last place you'll look.
Well that's the only explanation I have for finding a cat in the dryer (no it wasn't switched on)

Yes. I was looking for Mincho about three days ago. I looked under the beds, then in the closets and in all the rooms of the house. He was sitting on top of the refrigerator shelf on a cozy cushion just listening to me call for him and searching everywhere.
"I'm right up here, you dope!"
