I tried some but none work

I tried what the first to people said, but it still says I need a codec

I hate to tell you this, but MS moviemaker is a Microsoft product, Windows media player should play this! If your version of Windows media player is not playing the moviemaker file I suggest you update. Windows media player 10 is stable. Make sure that you install all security updates for this program.

OK, I know what you're going through, but you DO NOT need a codec, first of all, just save the movie maker file in movie maker by pressing file, then, save movie file, it will be converted to the right format to be used in windows media player
