My niece who is 7 years old lost her baby front tooth about 2 and a half months ago and her permanent one has not even begun to grow. I mean there is no sign that it's growing at all. Does anyone know if this is normal or not. We've already schedule an appointment with the dentist but I was just wondering if anyone else has experience this with thier child or with someone they know. Thanks

My daughter went 4 months without any sign of two front teeth coming in. I think her father pulled them before they were completely ready to come in. It was around christmas time so my daughter who was 6 at the time had to keep hearing from people was "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" :) Anyways, they did eventually come in. My dentist had done a panaramic xray when she first started going there and he saw all the adult teeth in the gum. Having said that, I still have 2 baby teeth in my mouth (im 28) with no adult teeth under them. My dentist is getting ready to pull them to make room for my wisdon teeth.... Either way the dentist will be able answer all your questions. Take Care.

i wouldnt worry at all. I had this same problem with baby teeth till i was a teen. it just takes a long time for some people. However ask your dentist about x-rays. they usually do them once a year(the little card board thing in your mouth and the heavy bib.) those can easily determine whether there are permanent teeth there.

While lower permanent teeth usually follow the baby teeth pretty closely, it is not uncommon at all for upper permanent teeth to take several months before they come in. I've seen them take over a year several times.

Its normal...on rare occasions will a Permanent tooth not grow and its usually on bicuspids. Wait a few more months and it should come in...She is right on time for her age.
