Fruits and vegetables also are good because of their protective effect on the brain. Studies feeding blueberry extract to elderly mice found it restored their brain function and spatial ability to that of youngins. Various berries (blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc...) are among the best of fruits because they are the most nutrient dense.

While some fruits and vegetable are more nutritious than others, it's best to get a wide variety. Different fruits/vegetables help in slightly different ways. One study for instance found that eating a lesser amount of several vegetables had a better effect than eating more of only 1 type of vegetable. So don't limit your choices.

I heard Fish is a good brain food. The japaneese eat a lot of it and they have a longer average life span.
